The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, Oct. 1.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 9 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, including 1 death and 1 hospitalization. The death was of a 90-plus-year-old white female with underlying conditions.

To date, Coweta has recorded cumulative totals of 2637 cases, 48 deaths and 133 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 8.4 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 5.4 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Statewide on Thursday, Georgia confirmed 1308 cases (down 412 from Wednesday’s total), including 42 deaths, 146 hospitalizations and 31 ICU admits. It marks the 47th consecutive day the state has been below 3,000 cases in a day.

Presently, there are 1307 people in Georgia hospitalized, down 42 from Wednesday.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 319,334 cases, 7063 deaths, 28,668 hospitalizations and 5300 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 10.1 percent and in the last 2 weeks, it’s 6.2 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
