The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, Oct. 8.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 8 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday with 0 deaths and 0 hospitalizations reported. So far in October, Coweta has recorded 79 cases for a daily average of 9.8.

To date, Coweta has recorded cumulative totals of 2707 cases, 52 deaths and 136 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 8.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 4.5 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Across the state on Thursday, Georgia confirmed 1265 cases (down 227 from Wednesday’s total), 35 deaths, 78 hospitalizations and 14 ICU admits. It’s the 54th consecutive day the state has been below 3,000 cases in a day. The last time was 3273 on Aug. 15.

Presently, there are 1284 people in Georgia hospitalized, up 4 from Wednesday.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 327,407 cases, 7294 deaths, 29,386 hospitalizations and 5453 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.9 percent and in the last 2 weeks, it’s 5.8 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
