Tuesday: Coweta surpasses 3900 cases of COVID

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, Dec. 8.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 28 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday to surpass the 3900 cumulative case mark. Today’s cases push the cumulative total to 3904. Also today, 1 hospitalization was reported.

It is the 25th consecutive day in double-digit cases for the county, which is the second-longest streak during the pandemic. Coweta had a stretch of 41 consecutive days (July 21-Aug. 30) with 10-or-more cases during the summer.

For the month of December, the county has registered 251 cases for an average of 31.4 per day with 3 deaths and 9 hospitalizations.

The age group of 15-24 year olds had 8 new cases confirmed on Tuesday, the highest of any group.

To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 3904 cases, 71 deaths and 186 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 8.1 percent, and in the last two weeks, is at 11.4 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (67 on Nov. 17); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

On Tuesday, Georgia confirmed 3686 cases (down 1175 from Monday’s totals) including 20 deaths, 191 hospitalizations and 28 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 2614 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, which is 16.5 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 12,448 or at 82.3 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is 2523 or 85.7 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 452,369 cases, 9027 deaths, 36,461 hospitalizations and 6719 ICU admits. The age group in Georgia with the most cases by far is 18-29 year olds with 109,964. The age group in Georgia with the most deaths is the over 80 year olds with 3356. And the age group with most hospitalizations in GA is 60-69 year olds with 7421.

The overall positive test rate is 9.3 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s rising at 12.1 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,947 on Dec. 4); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
