Tuesday: Georgia tops 100,000-mark in overall COVID-19 cases

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, July 7.

Georgia surpassed the 100,000-mark for COVID-19 cases with 3,406 cases on Tuesday, the 2nd-highest single day total since the pandemic started. It was the 16th consecutive day the state had 1,000-or-more cases in a single day. In addition, Georgia had 21 deaths, 307 hospitalizations and 30 ICU admits on Tuesday. The 307 hospitalizations was the first time over 300 hospitalizations in a 24-hour period since April 28 (330).

Overall, Georgia has 100,470 cumulative cases, 2899 deaths, 12,226 hospitalizations and 2471 ICU admits. Tests given – 1,150,472.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow:  cases – 3,472 (July 2); deaths – 94 (April 20); hospitalizations – 506 (April 7); ICU admits – 44 (June 18).

Coweta County slowed down in new cases today, adding only 7 to its cumulative total. It broke a streak of 7 consecutive days with new cases of 10-or-more. Coweta posted 1 new hospitalization on Tuesday and deaths were unchanged.

Coweta County now stands with cumulative totals of 794 cases, 16 deaths and 63 hospitalizations. Single-day highs for Coweta in various categories follow: cases – 46 (July 3); deaths – 3 (May 21); and hospitalizations – 6 (May 12).
