Weather: Mostly sunny with highs in mid-80s this weekend

With just over two weeks until the official start of summer, Coweta County appears to be already in summer mode weather-wise.

The Newnan-Coweta Airport weather station recorded high temperatures of 87 degrees on Tuesday, 90 on Wednesday and 89 yesterday. It will be slightly cooler this weekend as highs will remain near 85.

Increasing clouds are in Friday’s forecast with a 20 percent rain chance and a high of 84. Overnight, folks in Coweta can expect a low temperature of 65.

On Saturday, mostly sunny skies are expected with a high of 85. Winds will be from the North around 10 mph, gusting to 15. 

And on Sunday, mostly sunny again with a high of 85 and a 20 percent rain chance.

FRIDAY – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Patchy dense fog before 8am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the morning.

FRIDAY NIGHT – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. North wind around 5 mph becoming northeast after midnight.

SATURDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Northeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT – A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. East wind around 5 mph.

SUNDAY – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

MONDAY – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
