Weather: Rain remains in forecast through Wednesday

Two weather systems are set to move through Coweta County this week which will keep rain in the weekly forecast through Wednesday, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
The first cold front moves through overnight which will likely produce some thunderstorms, locally heavy rain and gusty winds. A 30 percent rain chance is in today’s forecast, but the real rain event will be tonight after 11 pm with chances going up to 70%. Today’s high will be near 68 under cloudy skies. Winds will be from the South at 10-15 mph, gusting to 20.
A 60 percent rain chance begins the day on Tuesday, again under mostly cloudy skies, as the high temperature is expected to reach 70 degrees. Rain continues into Tuesday night and Wednesday as chances move to 70% with the arrival of the second storm system. Temperatures begin to cool on Wednesday with a high of only 62 under mostly cloudy skies.
Clearing begins late Wednesday night as sunny skies and much cooler weather arrives Thursday. The high on Thursday will be 49 with an overnight low of 28 under clear skies.
And on Friday, much of the same with sunny skies and a high of 55 and overnight low around 32.
Saturday will be partly sunny with a high of 57.

MONDAY – A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before noon. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 68. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
MONDAY NIGHT – A chance of showers before 11pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11pm and 2am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am. Patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 63. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
TUESDAY – Showers and thunderstorms likely before 1pm, then a slight chance of showers between 1pm and 5pm. Patchy dense fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
TUESDAY NIGHT – A slight chance of showers before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 2am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
WEDNESDAY – Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. North wind around 5 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
THURSDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 49.
FRIDAY – Sunny, with a high near 55.
