Weather Weekend: Rain expected for Coweta

A wet weekend is in the forecast for Coweta County as rain is likely today through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Rain chances are listed at 50 percent today, 60 percent Saturday and 50 percent on Sunday. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms with a few potentially severe are forecast across north and central Georgia through the weekend.

High temperatures will be in the mid-80s under mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s.

Below is a day-by-day forecast (subject to change) from NWS:

FRIDAY – A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

FRIDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. South wind around 5 mph.

SATURDAY – A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 9pm and 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

SUNDAY – A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

SUNDAY NIGHT – A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69.
