The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, Oct. 28.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 7 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday with 0 deaths and 2 hospitalizations reported. That’s 3 days in-a-row with single-digit cases for Coweta, the first time it has happened since Sept. 27-28-29. For the month of October, Coweta has posted 343 cases or an average of 12.3 per day.

The age group of 25-34 years old had 3 new cases today, the highest of all groups.

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 2971 cases, 63 deaths and 148 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.9 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 6.1 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

In Georgia on Wednesday, the state confirmed 1653 cases (up 162 from Tuesday’s totals) with 32 deaths, 114 hospitalizations and 29 ICU admits. It is the 8th day in the last 9 that Georgia has been above 1,000 cases in a day. It’s also the 74th straight day below 3,000 cases.

Presently, there are 1,419 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, down 12 from Tuesday’s total.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 355,025 cases, 7876 deaths, 31,370 hospitalizations and 5888 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.5 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 6.6 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
