Wednesday: Coweta with 18 new cases, 5 hospitalizations

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Today, Coweta County confirmed 18 new cases of COVID-19 in Wednesday’s report, including 5 hospitalizations and 0 deaths. The hospitalizations were the most since recording 5 on July 31. The single-day high is 6.
Wednesday’s 18 cases push the Coweta cumulative total to 2446, up from Tuesday’s sum of 2428. The overall positive rate for tests in Coweta is 8.7 percent. Other cumulative totals to date include 40 deaths and 120 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).
Across the state on Wednesday, Georgia confirmed 2223 cases which was 727 more than Tuesday’s total. Other numbers today included 21 deaths, 219 hospitalizations, and 42 ICU admits. It marks the 32nd consecutive day below 3,000 cases.
Presently, there are 1475 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, down 32 from Tuesday.
Overall, Georgia now stands at 299,056 cases, 6419 deaths, 26,884 hospitalizations and 4912 ICU admits. The overall rate for positive tests is 10.3 percent.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
