The weekend calendar has an interesting mix of family fun happening in and around Coweta County.
Starting on Friday, ChildrenConnect Museum has a Valentine’s Celebration for kids, AARP has a Safe Driving Class at the Senoia Library, Crossroads Church is hosting Jeff Allen and The America I Grew Up In, An Evening of Spirit Mediumship at The Newnan Centre and there’s Speed Dating on Valentine’s evening at Abide Brewing Company.
On Saturday, TOT Children’s Reading is at Southern Fried Books, the Peachtree City Library is hosting a Pokemon Trading Card Workshop and Tournament, Rep. Philip Singleton is holding a Town Hall Meeting in Sharpsburg, there’s the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Party at Powell Library in Newnan and if you like Mardi Gras, the 4th Annual Krewe of Mask Mardi Gras Parade rolls in LaGrange.

And “Mamma Mia” continues its weekend production at Legacy Theatre in Tyrone.

Weather-wise, it will be a very cool weekend but at least dry. In fact, the National Weather Service does not list any rain chances through Sunday night – a first around here in a while over a weekend. Look for sunny skies on Friday and Saturday with highs in the low 50s. Overnight lows of 29 on Friday and 38 on Saturday. Sunday will be mostly cloudy and a high of near 56.

Valentine’s Celebration at ChildrenConnect Museum
Join us for a Valentine craft and cupcake decorating. Free play will be open in our Builder’s Room, Dress-up/Pretend Room, and Toddler Playzone during the celebration. The Maker’s Room will be open for free creativity at beginning at 11:30am.

AARP Smart Driving Class
Held at Senoia Library. Refresh your driving skills, learn research-based driving strategies, and the new rules of the road. Class is open to all ages. Registration is required and payment due day of the program. All attendees must bring your driver’s license, AARP card (if member) and a brown bag lunch.

This free service is offered to take riders from downtown Newnan to Ashley Park. Runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Pickup locations at City Hall, the Governor Ellis Arnall Parking Lot on Madison Street, and Ashley Park at Dillard’s (West Entrance) and Regal Cinemas. The first pickup is at 1 p.m. at City Hall with the last full route starting at 7 p.m.

An Evening of Spirit Mediumship
Join Mediums Janis Boscarello and Cat Sackett at Newnan Centre for an evening of loving messages from Spirit through Mediumship. This will be a beautiful reminder for us all that love is never lost, the way in which we communicate simply changes. The event is led by Spirit, so not everyone is guaranteed a personal reading however, there is always a shared magic among the group. Our intention is to support love, laughter and shared healing. Strange LaGrange: Ghosts, Legends, & Spirited History – A Walking Tour
Join Troup County Historical Society Docent and Southern Spirit Guide, Lewis Powell, for a ghostly tour of downtown LaGrange to hear about the spirited history of Troup County and those who call it home. Tours will depart from the Legacy Museum on Main, rain or shine, and move through the downtown area. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring a water bottle, and an umbrella if the weather calls for rain!

Rep. Singleton to host Town Hall Meeting in Sharpsburg
State Representative Philip Singleton (R-Sharpsburg) will host a Town Hall Meeting at the A&O Bridges Community Center in Sharpsburg. Rep. Pokemon Trading Card Game Workshop and Tournament
Hosted by the Peachtree City Library. Hello Pokemon Players! Come join us for our Saturday How-to-Play-Pokemon Workshop! Each player will receive an exclusive Pokemon League trading card for attending. From Noon-2 p.m., we will have our causal League play time; here you can bring your own Pokemon cards to trade, have a one-on-one lesson with a Pokemon Professor on how to play the card game officially, or bring your Nintendo Switch with Sword and Shield for a video game battle with friends. At 2 p.m., we will have our first ever Theme Deck Trading Card Tournament! If you are new to the game, we recommend you have a crash-course lesson with one of our Pokemon Professors between Noon-2 p.m. before the tournament starts. Everyone entering the tournament will receive a FREE theme deck to keep and use for the event.
