Weather: Cool, damp start to weekend

The cold front which pushed through the area on Thursday has left behind lingering showers, gusty winds and much cooler temperatures.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says to expect high temperatures of only 54 degrees today, 57 on Saturday before clearing skies and lots of sunshine returns and raises the high to 65 on Sunday. Rain chances are listed at 50 percent today, 40 percent tonight and 40 percent on Saturday. 

Southwest winds today will be 5-10 mph, gusting to 20. West winds will be the same on Saturday gusting to 20 before Northwest winds prevail on Sunday in the 5-10 mph range without the gusts.

FRIDAY – A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. 

FRIDAY NIGHT – A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. West wind around 5 mph. 

SATURDAY – A 40 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 57. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. West wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

SUNDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. 

MONDAY – Sunny, with a high near 68.
