Weekend Weather in Coweta: Heat Index in upper 90s

The recent heat wave which has hit much of the United States will also find its way to the Coweta County area this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Heat Index values – a combination of air temperature and humidity – is forecast for 97 degrees today and 98 on Saturday. And with high humidity comes a 60 percent chance of a typical afternoon shower or thunderstorm on both Friday and Saturday. It drops to 30 percent on Sunday.

FRIDAY – Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 97. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
FRIDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. West wind around 5 mph.
SATURDAY – Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Heat index values as high as 98. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
SATURDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
SUNDAY – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. West wind around 5 mph.
SUNDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72.
