Weekend Weather in Coweta: Saturday rain, then turning cold Sunday

The National Weather Service has given the Coweta County area a mixed bag in its weekend forecast.

Following a dense fog advisory until 10 a.m., Friday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 58 degrees. Then rain moves in overnight as a strong cold front makes its way across Georgia. Saturday’s high will be 63 degrees with a 90 percent rain chance and south winds 10-15 mph, gusting to 25.

Then Sunday, temperatures drop as the cold front exits and skies clear. Expect a high of only 41 with northwest winds at 15 mph, gusting to 30. And Sunday night, look for mostly clear skies and a low of 24.

Below is a day-by-day forecast (as of 6:30 a.m. Friday) from NWS:

TODAY – Patchy drizzle with a slight chance of sprinkles before 8am, then a slight chance of sprinkles between 8am and 9am. Areas of dense fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 58. Calm wind.

TONIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 4am. Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 50. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight.

SATURDAY – A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 9am. Patchy dense fog before 9am. High near 63. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a chance of showers. Low around 35. Southwest wind around 15 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

SUNDAY – A slight chance of flurries before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

SUNDAY NIGHT – Mostly clear, with a low around 24.
