THE SKINNY – Coweta County confirmed 25 new COVID-19 cases from July 6 to July 12.

Below is a summary of COVID-19 data thru Monday, July 12 from  the Georgia Department of Public Health.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 25 new COVID-19 cases for the past week with 0 deaths and 5 hospitalizations for the period of July 6 to July 12.

The 25 confirmed cases made for an average of just 3.6 cases per day.

So far in July, Coweta has registered 41 COVID cases (3.4 per day), 0 deaths (0.0 per day) and 5 hospitalizations (0.42 per day). By comparison, Coweta’s June daily averages were 2.5 cases per day, 0.3 deaths and 0.8 hospitalizations.

Regarding vaccinations, the Georgia Department of Public Health reports that 97,174 vaccinations have been applied here in Coweta County through July 12. Of those, 53,178 people or 37 percent have 1 dose of the vaccine while 47,773 or 33 percent of Coweta residents have been fully vaccinated.

The positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 10.0 percent, and in the last two weeks stands at 3.0 percent. Last week, those test rates were at 10.1 and 2.0, respectively.

Overall, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 8939 cases, 218 deaths (with an additional 14 probable deaths) and 412 hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Coweta remains ranked 23rd in Georgia (out of 159 counties) in cumulative cases, 18th in deaths due to COVID and 34th in COVID-related hospitalizations.

GEORGIA CASES

So far in July, Georgia has confirmed 3,926 new COVID-19 cases for an average of 327.2 per day.  The high for cases last week was 642 on Thursday, July 8.

Georgia also recorded 72 deaths in July for an average of 6 per day. Other July numbers include 479 hospitalizations (39.9 per day) and 116 ICU Admits (9.7 per day).

Regarding vaccinations, the Georgia Department of Public Health reports that 8,423,750 vaccinations have been applied here in Georgia through July 12. Of those, 4,542,210 Georgia residents or 44 percent have 1 dose of the vaccine while 4,045,927 or 39 percent have been fully vaccinated.

One patient census category to keep an eye on is COVID Patients Hospitalized. On Monday, July 12, that number was 625 or 4.1 percent of all folks hospitalized in Georgia. That number has risen by 165 since June 27.

The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 10.6 percent, and in the last two weeks, it is at 3.0 percent. Last week, those numbers were 10.7 and 1.5, respectively.

Georgia has confirmed cumulative totals of 907,658 cases, 18,575 deaths, 65,565 hospitalizations and 11,150 ICU admits thru July 12 since the pandemic began.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (10,379 on Jan. 8); deaths (184 on Feb. 12); hospitalizations (611 on Jan. 6); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
