The Open House welcomes the families of Atkinson students who will complete the school year on the West Georgia Tech Coweta Campus. The students have been displaced while Atkinson Elementary School undergoes repairs following recent storms.
Classes for Atkinson students will begin, on the West Georgia Tech Coweta Campus, on Wednesday, April 14.
Atkinson Elementary School Principal, Ben Tarleton said, “We welcome Atkinson parents to the West Georgia Tech Coweta Campus. We are excited that our families will get to see the excellent partnership among the Coweta County School System and West Georgia Tech that has provided this opportunity for our Atkinson students to finish the year in a great educational setting. While repairs are beginning at Atkinson, we look forward to continuing learning, to finishing our school year, at West Georgia Tech.”
West Georgia Technical College Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Kristen Douglas, added, “We are delighted that our Coweta Campus can provide a great setting in which Atkinson students can continue to learn. We are grateful for our decades-long partnership with the Coweta County School System, and we are pleased that this short term solution is available.”
Coweta County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Evan Horton, noted, “We are so appreciative of our partners at West Georgia Tech, and of the chance for Atkinson students to finish the year on our local West Georgia Tech College Campus. This presents yet another opportunity to support Coweta County students by building on a great partnership that has been developed over a number of years. We are excited to show this to our Atkinson parents.”
