Labor Day: Coweta confirms only 2 new cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Sept. 7.

As with previous holidays, numbers were down drastically on Labor Day with many reporting offices closed. Coweta County confirmed 2 new cases of COVID-19 with no deaths or hospitalizations. It is the lowest single-day number of cases since recording 1 on June 25. The GA DPH website confirmed Coweta with 29 PCR tests on Monday with a positive percentage rate of 10.0. Georgia’s positive rate is 10.4 percent.

Monday’s cases move the Coweta cumulative total to 2339, up from Sunday’s sum of 2337. Other cumulative totals to date include 32 deaths and 111 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Also on Labor Day, Georgia’s numbers were drastically lower than the last several weeks. Georgia confirmed 608 cases which was the first time below 1,000 cases since June 21. The last time a single-day number of cases was below 608 was June 8 with 599. Other Labor Day numbers included 7 deaths (lowest since 2 on Aug. 3), 15 hospitalizations (lowest since 3 on June 7) and 3 ICU admits (2nd consecutive day with 3). It marks the 23rd consecutive day below 3,000 cases.

Presently, there are 1,659 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, down 1 from Sunday.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 283,807 cases, 6044 deaths, 25,538 hospitalizations and 4687 ICU admits.
