Local Trends and Trendsetters: Tassels, Rental Cars and Cowhide
By Corby Carlin Winters, Public Relations & Marketing
Each month we cover some of the hot trends from health and wellness, fashion and style, business or even tapping into your creative side.
Tassels are everywhere
Tassels are no longer just for home decor or your graduation hood. You can always find them on furniture, light fixtures, and candlesticks, but now they are popping up everywhere. Now you see them as part of necklaces, and even earrings and keychains. They can be fun and even a little sexy. But not all tassels are created equal. Be sure the ones you use go with your face and hair color and length. It’s all about proportions.
Take a road trip in a rental car
There are many reasons to do so: save wear and tear on your own vehicle; you need something bigger; or you want something really fun to drive. Mel Kendricks, director of marketing with ValueMax in Newnan, said among the options are SUVs of all sizes, as well as trucks, including the Titan. Whether a quick weekend getaway or a beach vacation, you can also find a snappy sports car to play in. ValueMax has cars available for daily and weekly rentals and another perk is they do not charge for mileage.
Leather and cowhide skin are summer attire and accessories
I am sure that almost all of you would think that leather jackets and pants are only for the fall and winter. But that is no longer the case. Even down here in the South, leather is fine anytime of year. And that’s not just suede pants or leather jackets.
Cowhide purses and totes and cowhide jackets are as popular as ever. Check out the purses and clutches at Circa Antiques in Tyrone and by Carol Hamlin at Gillyweeds in downtown Newnan.
Bicycling, running & walking safety on old country roads
A timeless trend is walking and riding bikes on our old country roads. But I am always concerned about people on these back roads. Trash cans and mail boxes are often in jeopardy of being hit, but they are nothing compared to a human life. I cannot even begin to tell you how many people I see wearing dark clothes at night. You may not want to wear bright colors, but safety comes first.
Dragonfly Running Company sells lights for shoes as well as reflective wear that help for that night time ride, run or walk. Remember, safety first.
