Monday: Coweta reports only 5 new cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Monday, Aug. 31.

Coweta County confirmed just 5 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday’s Daily Status Report with no deaths or hospitalizations reported. The 5 cases broke a string of 41 consecutive days in double-digits. The last time Coweta recorded a lower number was 4 cases on June 29. (Coweta’s daily numbers used in this story are from the cumulative totals chart [below] found on the DPH website and not from specific graphs where lag times and 7-day moving averages are used).

For the month of August, Coweta confirmed 953 cases for an average of 30.7 per day, which was 324 more cases than in July. Also in August, Coweta had 7 deaths and 16 hospitalizations.

Monday’s cases move Coweta’s cumulative total to 2249, up from Sunday’s cumulative sum of 2244. Also, Coweta has 26 deaths and 108 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Also today, Georgia confirmed 1498 cases of COVID-19 for the 16th straight day below 3,000 cases. Other Monday numbers were 28 deaths, 32 hospitalizations and 4 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 1929 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, a decrease of 9 from Sunday.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 270,471 cases, 5632 deaths, 24,604 hospitalizations and 4493 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
