The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, Sept. 10.

Today, Coweta County confirmed 18 new cases of COVID-19 including 1 death and 1 hospitalization. The death was of a 60-year-old black female with no underlying conditions. So far in September, Coweta has had 8 deaths which surpassed the previous high of 7 in August.

Thursday’s cases move the Coweta cumulative total to 2375, up from Tuesday’s sum of 2357. The overall positive rate for tests in Coweta is 8.8 percent. Other cumulative totals to date include 34 deaths and 112 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Statewide on Thursday, Georgia confirmed 1836 cases, a decrease of 101 from yesterday’s case count of 1937. It’s the 26th consecutive day below 3,000 cases and 5th day in-a-row below 2,000 (first time since June 23-27). Other numbers today included 76 deaths, 217 hospitalizations and 40 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 1540 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, up 55 from Wednesday.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 289,123 cases, 6204 deaths, 26,062 hospitalizations and 4776 ICU admits. The overall rate for positive tests is 10.4 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
