The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, Sept. 17.

Georgia hit a milestone for cases today, surpassing the 300,000 mark. Thursday’s report confirmed 1847 new cases in Georgia to push the cumulative total to 300,903. It was the 33rd consecutive day below 3,000 cases. Other Thursday numbers included 55 deaths, 170 hospitalizations and 33 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 1444 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, down 31 from Wednesday.

Overall, Georgia now has cumulative totals of 6474 deaths, 27,054 hospitalizations and 4945 ICU admits. The overall rate for positive tests is 10.3 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).

Coweta County confirmed 19 new cases of COVID-19 in Thursday’s report, including 1 hospitalization and 0 deaths. It was the 4th consecutive day in double-digits for cases and the 3rd consecutive day with at least 1 hospitalization (last time was Aug. 13-14-15).

Thursday’s 19 cases push the Coweta cumulative total to 2465, up from Wednesday’s sum of 2446. The overall positive rate for tests in Coweta is 8.7 percent. Other cumulative totals to date include 40 deaths and 121 hospitalizations.
