Weather: Sunny and hot forecast for Coweta County

From Staff Reports
Three words best describe this week’s weather forecast for Coweta County – sunny and hot.
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says to expect high temperatures to reach near 100 degrees on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A strong high pressure system is sitting over the southeastern United States which is helping to deliver the heat here locally and without much, if any, chance of rain.
Yesterday’s high of 87 broke a string of seven consecutive days of 90-degree high temperatures at the Newnan-Coweta County Airport weather station. Five of those days had Heat Index values of 100-or-more degrees.
This week, the humidity will much lower, thus the Heat Index values will likely match the real-time temperatures or be just below them. It will still be plenty hot with the highs expected to be 92 today, 97 on Tuesday, 98 on Wednesday and Thursday, and 96 on Friday.
