Wednesday: Coweta surpasses 3500 cumulative cases

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, Nov. 25.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

On Wednesday, Coweta County confirmed 41 new cases of COVID-19 to push its cumulative total to 3508. Also today, the county reported 3 hospitalizations and 0 deaths.  It’s the 11th consecutive day the county has been in double-digits for cases and today is the 2nd straight day with 3 hospitalizations – 3rd time in 6 days.

Today, the age groups of 25-34, 35-44 and 45-54 year olds had the most new cases in the county with 8 each.

Other surrounding counties and case increases on Wednesday – Fayette added 19 cases, Carroll 18, Troup 17, Spalding 17 (1 death), Heard 1 and Meriwether 0.

For the month of November, Coweta has posted 495 cases for a daily rate of 19.8. There have been 4 deaths and 19 hospitalizations. This month is the 3rd-highest in cases for Coweta since the pandemic began, trailing August with 953 and July with 629.

To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 3508 cases, 67 deaths and 171 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 9.2 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (67 on Nov. 17); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Georgia confirmed 2358 cases on Wednesday, which was down 66 from Tuesday’s totals. Other totals today included 46 deaths (up 42), 145 hospitalizations (down 40) and 20 ICU admits (down 17).

Presently, there are 1,950 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, up 30 from Tuesday which makes up 12.7 percent of statewide patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 12,133 or at 80.2 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy went up on Wednesday, increasing by 26 from yesterday to 2417, which is 82.6 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 411,002 cases, 8694 deaths, 34,413 hospitalizations and 6434 ICU admits. The age group in Georgia with the most cases by far is 18-29 year olds with 101,353, followed by 30-39 year olds with 67,041.

The overall positive test rate is 9.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 7.8 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
