Weather: Continued hot, humid conditions this weekend

Another Heat Advisory is in effect today and likely again on Saturday as hot and humid conditions continue here in Coweta County this weekend. 

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued another Heat Advisory for today from noon to 7 p.m. as heat index values will be near 102 degrees. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible into this evening. Today’s high is forecast for 91 degrees. The chance of rain is listed at 60 percent.

It follows a pattern for the past three days with highs in the lower 90s and heat index values at or near 100 per the Newnan-Coweta Airport weather station. Tuesday’s high was 92 with a heat index of 99. Wednesday’s high was 93 with a heat index of 103. And yesterday, the high was 94 and the heat index reached 100.

Expect the heat index to be near 101 on Saturday with a high of 88. The rain chances are at 80 percent. 

And following a front that passes through Saturday evening, more clouds are in Sunday’s forecast with rain chances at 70 percent but a high of only 85.

Overnight lows will be 74 tonight, 71 Saturday night and 69 on Sunday.

FRIDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

SATURDAY – Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. High near 88. Heat index values as high as 101. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

SUNDAY – Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

MONDAY – A slight chance of showers between 8am and 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
