Weather Week in Coweta: Cool and dry through Friday

Old Man Winter quietly made an appearance here in Coweta County overnight, bringing the coldest temperatures to the area since March.

The weather station located at Newnan-Coweta County Airport recorded a 40-degree temperature at 7:15 this morning. A North wind gusting to 16 mph made the Wind Chill drop to 34 degrees.

The National  Weather Service says to expect a high temperature of only 57 degrees today with North wind at 5-10 mph, gusting to 15. Patchy frost is not out of the question overnight as lows drop to 35 degrees.

The rest of the week will be under sunny skies with no rain. Daytime temperatures begin to increase starting tomorrow on Election Day with a high near 65. And by Friday, temperatures will reach 72 degrees.

Below is the day-by-day forecast (subject to change) from the NWS:

MONDAY – Sunny, with a high near 57. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

MONDAY NIGHT – Patchy frost after 5am. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 35. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

TUESDAY – Patchy frost before 7am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 65. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

WEDNESDAY – Sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the morning.

THURSDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.

FRIDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.
