Weather Week in Coweta: Hot, humid again with highs in the 90s

The extended summer heat wave continues here in Coweta County this week as the National Weather Service says to expect high temperatures in the 90s.

Heat Index Values will be at 100 degrees today and near 97 degrees on Tuesday. Rain chances are listed at 20 percent today and increase as the week moves along – 40 percent Tuesday and Wednesday, 50 percent Thursday and 60 percent on Friday.

Below is the day-by-day forecast from the NWS:

MONDAY – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 95. Heat index values as high as 100. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon.

TUESDAY – A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 97. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

WEDNESDAY – A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph.

THURSDAY – A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 91.

FRIDAY – Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 9am. Cloudy, with a high near 90. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
